How Long Does A Forward Washing Operation Typically Take For A Multi-media Filter?

There is no fixed time for the forward washing operation of a multi-media filter. The core standard is that the effluent water quality meets the standards. The reference duration under normal operating conditions is as follows:

Forward washing after routine backwashing : If the filter media is lightly contaminated and the backwashing effect is good, the forward washing time is [not specified].
If the filter media is only lightly fouled and the backwashing is effective, the forward wash typically lasts 3-5 minutes , during which the effluent turbidity can be reduced to ≤1.

Filter media caking or forward washing after air washing : If the filter media is severely caking, perform air wiping
For filter media caking or forward washing after air washing : If the filter media is severely caking, there will be a lot of residual impurities in the gaps between the filter media after air washing and water backwashing. The forward washing time needs to be extended to 5-8 minutes to ensure that the deep residual impurities are thoroughly flushed out.

Special water quality conditions : After treating high-turbidity, high-viscosity raw water, the backwash time can be flexibly adjusted according to the turbidity of the effluent, with a maximum duration of no more than [missing information].
Special water quality conditions : After treating raw water with high turbidity and high viscosity, the backwash time can be flexibly adjusted according to the turbidity of the effluent, with a maximum of 10 minutes , to avoid excessive rinsing and waste of water resources.

Note : The forward washing time should not be judged solely by the duration. It should be based on the reading of the online turbidity meter or the results of sampling tests. Once the standard is met, the forward washing can be stopped and normal operation can begin.
