1. Use a bucket or scoop:
You can use a bucket to scoop all the water out of the water softener.
Find a bucket that is small enough to fit in the brine tank, or use a large scoop or bowl. Scoop all the water out by hand and pour it into a larger container and then pour it down the drain.
If the water inside is still relatively clean, you can scoop it into a larger clean container or laundry tub so you can use it again after you have fixed the problem.
2. Use a wet and dry vacuum:
Wet and dry vacuums are designed to suck up water and dry items. Not all vacuums are suitable for sucking up water, so make sure the one you use is suitable for both wet and dry!
3. Remove the brine well and dump the water:
You can also disconnect the brine well and dump the water down the drain, as this is less harmful to the environment. The brine well is the long cylinder that holds the safety float inside the brine tank.
4. Perform a manual regeneration cycle:
If your water softener allows manual regeneration, you can do the following:
Press the Regeneration button: You can activate a manual regeneration cycle by pressing and holding the Regeneration button to drain the water from your water softener. During the regeneration process, your water softener automatically sucks out all the water in the brine tank, so activating this cycle can drain the water for you.
Press the button again: When the regeneration cycle begins, make sure to press the button again to skip the brine cycle.
Press the button after the tank is empty: After the tank is empty, you can press the button to skip all other cycles and let the water softener return to normal.
