1. Disconnect the lines:
● Locate the salt water tank and identify the lines connecting it to the water softener.
● Disconnect these lines, making sure to place a bowl underneath to catch any dripping water.
2. Drain the water:
● Siphon: If possible, you can use a siphon hose to suck the water out.
● Bail: Use a bucket that fits the salt water tank to scoop out the water.
● Wet and dry vacuum: If you have a wet and dry vacuum, you can use it to suck out the water.
3. Drain the water down the drain.
● Note: Avoid lawns, plants, and do not pour water on lawns or plants, as the salt in it can damage them.
4. Clean the salt water tank:
● Remove salt/sludge: Remove any salt and sludge left in the tank.
● Wash with soap/water: Wash the tank with water and a small amount of dish soap.
● Rinse thoroughly: Rinse the tank thoroughly to remove any soap residue.
5. Reassemble:
● Once the tank is clean and dry, reconnect the lines and hoses.
● Add new salt to the tank as needed according to your owner's manual.
