How To Effectively Remove Iron When Making Refined Quartz Sand?

Removing iron during the production of refined quartz sand is a key issue, so how can iron be effectively removed? Refined quartz sand is an important industrial mineral raw material, with a white or crystalline appearance. It is widely used in industries such as glass, casting, ceramics, refractory materials, metallurgy, construction, chemical engineering, plastics, rubber, abrasive, etc. During the production process of refined quartz sand, it is necessary to thoroughly remove iron, which is a very important step, mainly to improve the purity of quartz sand. So what are the ways to remove iron when making refined quartz sand?

When making refined quartz sand, there are generally three methods for removing iron, namely mechanical wiping, magnetic separation, and ultrasonic cleaning.

Mechanical wiping is mainly used to remove iron impurities from the outside of the quartz sand raw ore through the action of external forces. There are also two types of mechanical wiping: rod grinding and mechanical wiping. When using mechanical iron removal, some solution is also needed to cooperate and configure the concentration of the slurry to a certain proportion to remove iron from the raw quartz sand. However, this iron removal method is only applicable to some small-scale manufacturers or when the quality of raw quartz sand is very good

Magnetic separation for iron removal is achieved through the physical properties of iron. There are two methods of magnetic separation: dry separation and wet separation, each of which has its own advantages. When using, it is best to first determine the content of the raw ore quartz sand. If the raw ore quartz sand contains weak magnetic impurities such as hematite, limonite, and biotite, wet separation can only be used. However, the disadvantages of wet separation are high power consumption and easy wear of the medium The water consumption produced is very high, and the operating and maintenance costs are very high. If there are no impurities mentioned above, dry separation can be used. Compared to wet separation, it has very low cost and maintenance;

Finally, there is ultrasonic iron removal, which mainly removes the secondary iron film on the surface of particles, and mechanical wiping is not feasible.

Each of the three methods has its advantages and characteristics, and should be selected based on specific circumstances.
