Cation Anion Mixed Bed Resin

Cation exchange resin contains sulfonic acid functional groups that can replace metal cations like calcium, magnesium, and heavy metals in water with hydrogen ions. Anion exchange resin contains quaternary amine groups that replace chlorides, sulfates, nitrates and other inorganic anions with hydroxide ions. When the resins are used in series, this process can produce ultrapure water.
