Quartz sand filters mainly remove suspended solids, sediment, and other impurities in water. They are made of stainless steel quartz sand filters and carbon steel quartz sand filters. For many suspended solids with excessive impurities such as sediment, we adopt a method of settling first and then filtering.
We encountered a customer who was building a subway tunnel. The construction of the subway tunnel generated a large amount of mud water. After sedimentation, the suspended solids in the water still exceeded the standard, and the water quality was not very good after being filtered through a quartz sand filter. Due to the limited area occupied by construction in many urban construction sites, it is not possible to build large sedimentation tanks. Due to the small size of the sedimentation tanks, it is difficult for small particles to settle down. After on-site inspection by our engineers, our filters can also operate in an intermittent manner because the water is pumped from groundwater to the sedimentation tank. After the water settles, flocculants are added and the water quality undergoes preliminary sedimentation, Then refined sedimentation is carried out in the filter tank. Due to the backwashing expansion space of the filter, it cannot be fully filled with quartz sand and can store a lot of water. After 2 hours of static sedimentation, the outlet valve is opened, and the water naturally flows out. The water quality is clear, achieving the purpose of purification. For this type of mud water treatment and purification, the filtration operation cost is greatly reduced.
Due to the intermittent water inflow, the operation is not affected. If the water outflow is continuous, it is recommended to add a bag filter or precision filter later. This will result in high operating costs, as the bag filter and precision filter need to be replaced, invisibly increasing the operating costs.
So for poor water quality and discontinuous inflow, we can use quartz sand filters for static sedimentation, and then use gravity filtration to improve the effluent effect significantly.
