What Are Some Common Malfunctions Of Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Equipment During Operation?

The following are common faults and solutions during the operation of reverse osmosis water treatment equipment:

Water production decreased
reason :
Pre-treatment filter cartridge clogging

,

RO membrane fouling/scaling

Insufficient pressure from the high-pressure pump, or excessively low water temperature.

Solution : Replace the filter element, chemically clean the RO membrane, overhaul the pump body, and raise the water temperature to around 25℃.

Water production plummeted/no water was produced
reason :
Security filter cloggedHigh-pressure pump running dry, valve stuck, diaphragm seal damaged.

Solution : Replace the filter element, vent/maintain the pump, clean the valves, and replace the membrane module.

 II. Water quality-related problems
Increased conductivity of the produced water
reason :
RO membrane damage

1. Seal leakage, abnormal concentrated water backflow, and deterioration of influent water quality.

Solution : Replace the membrane, replace the sealing ring, unclog the pipeline, and strengthen the pretreatment.

 Poor taste/cloudy water

Causes : Activated carbon failure, membrane damage, water tank contamination.

Solution : Replace activated carbon, replace membrane, and clean and disinfect water storage tank.

 III. Operational Faults

 Abnormal noise/vibration from high-pressure pump

Causes : air intake, bearing wear, impeller blockage, motor failure.

Solution : Vent the air, replace the bearing/lubricate, clean the impeller, and repair the motor.

 Pipe/Flange Leaks

Causes : Aging of seals, loose bolts, and corrosion of pipelines.

Solution : Replace the sealing ring, tighten the bolts, and replace the corroded pipes.

 IV. Maintenance Recommendations
Routine inspection : Monitor parameters such as pressure, flow rate, and conductivity every 2 hours, and handle any abnormalities promptly.

Regular maintenance : Clean the dosing system and perform backwash pretreatment weekly; flush the RO membrane and calibrate the instruments monthly; replace the filter cartridge and evaluate membrane performance quarterly.

Troubleshooting : Follow the order of "pre-processing first, then core unit, and finally auxiliary components" to avoid blind disassembly.

The above measures can effectively reduce the occurrence of malfunctions and ensure the long-term stable operation of equipment.
